24 Hours in Boston

Earlier this year, one of my best friends turned 30 and was having a party, so I decided to fly up to Boston for 24 hours to surprise her! I landed on a Saturday at noon and departed Sunday at 5pm. It was a sprint, but I was able to do quite a bit and also enjoy the surprise for my friend :)

Where to Stay

Her birthday party was in the Back Bay neighborhood, so I stayed at the Hilton Boston Park Plaza - which was right off of Newbury Street. The location was great and the hotel was pretty nice! It was $212 for one night in a spacious room with a king bed and bathtub.

What I Did

As soon as I checked in to the hotel, I changed and hit the road. I went straight to Tatte Bakery to get a Tatte Latte - a must for me when visiting Boston. As I said above, the hotel was right off Newbury Street, a prime shopping area in Boston, so I walked allllll down Newbury. I ended up buying:

  • Another 13 from Le Labo for Neal - he isn’t a huge fan of fragrance, but he loved Another 13 from Le Labo as it’s very light!

  • a blue tank top from Reformation that was sold out online

  • a sweater from Zara

After my shopping escapade, I went to Deuxave for a little “girl snack” - some truffle fries and a French 75. I tried getting a table at Uni for an early dinner at 5, but they didn’t open until 5:30, so I went back after Deuxave and had an amazing meal! I got the wagyu dumplings and toro nigiri with caviar, then the chef sent me an additional toro with a homemade lemon miso spicy mustard!

After dinner, it was time to head on over to the birthday party at Audubon Bar - they had incredible craft cocktails and such friendly staff! We spent a good bit of time here then decided to go to a club in Cambridge - I cannot tell you the name of this club because at this point I believe my blood was at least 50% alcohol.

I woke up the next morning slightly hungover and made my way to Tatte Bakery in Seaport. I thought a big breakfast sandwich and sea air would do me well, but the wind was around 35 mph and cutting so I dipped into shops to hide. At this point, one of my other best friends, who lives in Providence, drove up to meet me and get lunch in the North End.

You can’t go wrong in the North End, but we went to Quattro and it was some of the best food I’ve had in Boston. We split a pizza and the lasagna… amazing. If you’re in the North End, you have to get a cannoli - and this is a rivalry that has lasted a long time… Mike’s or Modern. We chose Mike’s this visit and got the classic, the oreo, and the pistachio. We made our way to the harbor to enjoy the cannolis and then I had to go on to the airport.

What I Wish I Did

I wish I had booked my ticket to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in advance so I could’ve visited!
