Walt Disney World Monorail Bar Crawl
If you choose to drink, there are plenty of opportunities in Disney World… Epcot and Animal Kingdom both have plenty of alcoholic options, Disney Springs for non-park attendees, Boardwalk, etc. One of the lesser known options is the Monorail Bar Crawl.
The Monorail at Walt Disney World connects The Ticketing and Transportation Center to Epcot and Magic Kingdom, but also a few of the resorts - Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Contemporary.
The great thing about this bar crawl is that you don’t need a park ticket - so you’re already coming out less expensive than a bar crawl within the park! And you still get exquisite Disney theming!
During this bar crawl, we had a brief intermission because Hilton Grand Vacations made me cry, but we rallied and persevered through tiki drinks and Mickey Mouse who strengthen me.
I’ll share below an overview of each stop on the monorail and what I recommend at each resort.
Grand Floridian
Grand Floridian is a gorgeous resort and spa situated right outside of Magic Kingdom. With clean interiors and over 14 on-site dining options, it’s clear why the going rate each night starts at $700/night.
We stopped by Enchanted Rose and for snacks, I recommend:
Truffle Fries
Croquettes
Hummus
for drinks, I recommend:
Lavender Fog- a gin cocktail with creme de violette, English breakfast tea, vanilla, and cream.
Salty Dog - vodka, grapefruit, and salt
Aura in Me - gin cocktail with pink peppercorn, cardamom, elderflower, honey, lemon, and egg white
Polynesian
Polynesian Resort is a super fun, tiki-inspired resort. There are multiple options here also, but I recommend Tambu Lounge, Kona Cafe, and Trader Sam’s - either grotto or tiki terrace!
At Tambu Lounge, for snacks I recommend the potstickers - a pork and vegetable dumpling with chili - garlic dipping sauce.
For cocktails, I recommend:
Pina Colava - a raspberry rum cocktail with flavors of coconut, pineapple, and raspberry purée
Lapu Lapu - a stout dark rum cocktail with almond, tropical fruit, and pineapple
Also be sure to stop by Kona Cafe for the bread pudding, which you can order via mobile!
At Trader Sam’s, for snacks I recommend:
Chicken lettuce cups
Pan-fried dumplings
For non-alcoholic drink option, I love the Skipper Sipper - tropical fruit and soda water with mint and agave.
For cocktails, these are my favorite - and I consider myself an expert since I LOVE a tiki bar:
Tahitian Torch - vodka, tropical fruit, passion fruit, and lime
Polynesian Pearl - Rumchata, Grand Marnier, and cinnamon with tropical fruit
a classic margarita
Contemporary
Finally Contemporary Resort! The monorail goes THROUGH this resort, which is pretty cool! There are 2 locations here I recommend: Outer Rim and Steakhouse 71. Steakhouse 71 has a restaurant and a lounge, so depending on your preference, you have options.
At Outer Rim, they don’t offer any food so you can only order drinks (mostly wine and classic cocktails). For non-alcoholic options, the Pink London Spritzer is my pick - a non-alcoholic spirit with grapefruit, mint, lime, and pomegranate green tea.
At Steakhouse 71, they offer your traditional steakhouse options. For me, that will always include a French Onion Soup and Macaroni n Cheese.
The Drinks I recommend are:
1971 Sunset - reposado tequila, passion fruit / orange / guava juice, rosemary, simple syrup, and house-made grenadine
Last Concourse - gin, lemon juice, sage, and raspberry
