My beautiful little sister is getting married!! When we started asking about what kind of bachelorette party she wanted, she surprised me by saying “Key West.” We have visited Fort Myers Beach every year since 2000, only missing with the years following Hurricane Ian as the island rehabbed itself. We convinced her to tack on her bachelorette trip to the end of our family beach trip so we could essentially kill two birds with one stone…

Half of the group would already be in Florida, while the other half would fly down. This left us in a fun bind planning logistics - do the additional girls fly to Fort Myers Beach? Key West? Miami? We decided on Fort Lauderdale, since it was the cheapest option, and gave us the opportunity to incorporate a road trip into the overall trip.

Something to know about my sister… she LOVES key lime pie. What better way to break up the 3-hour drive than to make it a key lime pie crawl?!

First Up: Robert Is Here Fruit Stand

Part of our family lives in Miami, which means we have spent some beautiful time between Fort Myers, Miami, and Key Largo. One of our tried-and-true stops is Robert Is Here Fruit Stand. It is not your typical fruit stand, they also make smoothies, milkshakes, and have a giant petting farm in the back.

We stopped here to grab a smoothie - I opted for the blueberry, dragonfruit, and strawberry smoothie + honey.

Stop 2: Mrs. Mac’s

We heard they have amazing key lime pie, but we went to the wrong location so we sat down and ordered some food. I ordered some fries and a beer, then we all split a key lime pie. Very kitschy interiors, inoffensive key lime pie, worth skipping tbh.

Stop 3: Blond Giraffe

Now, everywhere you read will tell you this is the best key lime pie and to try the chocolate-dipped frozen key lime pie on a stick. I would not tell you to do this. The frozen key lime pie is HARD, and in fact, FROZEN. It is very hard to bite into! However, the regular key lime pie was very good and very tart.

Stop 4: Robbie’s

This was my personal favorite stop. Not necessarily key lime pie-focused, but filled with vendors, a restaurant, a bar, and tarpon feeding! We wandered a bit to stretch our legs, grabbed a drink, and fed the tarpon in the back. Beware the pelicans, they will try to steal your fish. Also beware of the millions of mosquitoes.

Stop 5: The Island Fish Co.

We wanted to stop by Rain Barrel Village, but we didn’t make it before they closed. So on to the next and final stop: The Island Fish Co. A tiki bar on the water, the views are beautiful and the vibe is casual. We grabbed margaritas and looked out at the beautiful water views with sailboats driving by.

Final stop: KEY WEST!

After 4 hours, we made it to Key West and got in to our Airbnb :)
